AwardFares vs MilesZone: free plan, trial and alerts compared
Checked on October 7, 2026 on AwardFares's own pages by the MilesZone team. Sources
If you are looking for an AwardFares alternative, this page decides one thing: how much you can see before you pay, and how long you get to try the paid part. AwardFares vs MilesZone comes down to the free plan and the trial. AwardFares Basic previews one programme at a time. The MilesZone award search covers every programme it reads at once, and Pro starts with a week-long trial.
- MilesZone puts every programme in one search on the free plan, over the next 60 days, with no daily cap.
- Pro starts with a 7-day free trial, against AwardFares' 24 hours.
- MilesZone alerts re-check the exact seat with the programme before emailing.
Is AwardFares worth it?
AwardFares is worth it if you want fast-refreshing results and many alerts: Gold, $9.99 a month or $99 a year, brings 100 live searches a day, hourly refresh and 30 Live Alerts; Diamond refreshes every minute. It reads 17 programmes.
Basic is a preview rather than a free plan: cached results, one programme at a time, no live search and no alerts. The trial lasts 24 hours, which is short to judge a tool on your own routes.
MilesZone searches every programme it reads at once, each one's miles and cash fees side by side, free for departures in the next 60 days; Pro adds route alerts and 12 months of dates. Search a route to compare.

Where MilesZone differs from AwardFares
Three gaps between AwardFares Basic, its 24-hour trial and MilesZone, read on awardfares.com and its blog on October 7, 2026.
Every programme at once on the free plan
AwardFares Basic shows a preview of stored availability, one programme at a time, with no live search and no alerts. Paying widens the view only so far: Gold searches 2 programmes at once and Diamond 5, out of 17.
One MilesZone award search covers every programme it reads, free with an account, over the next 60 days with no daily cap. On a New York to Paris search, Flying Blue and every other programme that sells the route sit in one list, each with its miles and cash fees, and Atmos Rewards joins in on the routes it sells. You compare the total cost without switching programmes.

A 7-day trial, not 24 hours
AwardFares gives new customers a 24-hour trial of its paid plans, and its own blog says a card is needed. A day is short for award travel, where seats appear and vanish over days.
MilesZone Pro gives you a 7-day free trial against AwardFares' single day. A week leaves time to set alerts on the routes you care about, read what they send, and re-check a seat live before you transfer points.
Alerts re-checked before they email
AwardFares has no alerts on Basic. Gold holds 30 Live Alerts and 100 Flex Alerts, Diamond 500 Live Alerts and unlimited Flex Alerts.
Before a MilesZone alert on a route like New York to Paris emails, the seat is checked once more with Flying Blue or whichever programme sells it, and a seat that has gone sends nothing. Each alert covers a whole date window and keeps running after it emails, at most four emails a day. MilesZone Pro holds up to 25 of them, monthly or yearly.

Every programme we read, on one page.
Search a route and see each programme's miles with the cash on top, for every date in the window.
AwardFares free vs paid: plans and prices
- Free
- Cached preview, one programme at a time
- Paid
- $9.99/mo or $99/yr (Gold)
- Alerts
- None free; 30 Live on Gold
AwardFares pricing has two paid plans: Gold at $9.99 a month or $99 a year, and Diamond at $19.99 a month or $199 a year, as AwardFares lists them on its own blog (checked October 7, 2026). Both start with a 24-hour trial. Gold adds 100 live searches a day and hourly refresh; Diamond adds unlimited live searches and refresh every minute.
Unlike AwardFares Basic, the MilesZone award search is free with an account on every programme for departures in the next 60 days, no card needed. Pro, at $17 a month or $127 a year, has the same features monthly or yearly and begins with a 7-day free trial, then brings alerts on up to 25 routes, 12 months of dates and a live re-check before you transfer points.
AwardFares promo code and discounts
AwardFares' pricing page mentions no promo code (checked October 12, 2026). What it offers is a 24-hour free trial for new customers and yearly prices below twelve months: Gold $99 a year against $9.99 a month, Diamond $199 against $19.99, as its own blog lists them.
MilesZone needs no code: award search is free for departures in the next 60 days, and Pro, at $17 a month or $127 a year, starts with a 7-day free trial.
AwardFares or MilesZone: which should you pick?
- You want to see every programme's price for a route before you pay anything.
- You want a week to try alerts and the live re-check, not a day.
- You book on Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Atmos Rewards, EL AL Matmid, LifeMiles, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Thai Royal Orchid Plus, British Airways Club, United MileagePlus, Delta SkyMiles or Qantas Frequent Flyer.
Pick AwardFares if you want 17 programmes, live search refreshed every minute on Diamond, and tools like a journey planner and seat maps.

In short, AwardFares is a paid tool with a narrow free plan and a one-day trial. MilesZone is the AwardFares alternative for seeing every programme's price before you pay, and for alerts you can act on because the seat was re-checked first.
AwardFares ties refresh speed to the plan; for the MilesZone side, see how often we read each programme.
