Which US routes are the cheapest business class flights to Europe?

Boston (BOS) to Dublin (DUB) tops the list, but a cheap typical price and a bookable seat are two different things. The table ranks the 12 cheapest of 128 routes from US airports by the typical price of each route's cheapest program, and the last column says how many dates that program actually had a seat. For the program-by-program view of the same corridor, read business class to Europe with miles.

Read the last column first. On 3 of these 12 routes, the cheapest program had a seat on fewer than a quarter of the dates read; on 4, it had one on at least half.

Only routes that leave a US airport are ranked. The study's "The Americas to Europe" pair has 161 routes in all; 22 routes from Canada and 11 from the Caribbean and Latin America sit in the business-class award price study with the full method.

Which cheap routes to Europe had a seat on most dates?

Past the top 12, these are the next cheapest US routes where the cheapest program was open on at least half the dates read. Here the typical price was something a traveller with fixed dates could usually get, not a rare opening.

Each program prices in its own currency, so the table names the program behind each price rather than averaging Avios with Flying Blue miles. 6 US airports with fewer than 5 routes are left out of this table but kept in the rankings above. Which cities had a seat on the most dates, rather than the lowest price, is covered in business class award availability by departure city.

Is a positioning flight to a cheaper gateway worth it?

Sometimes, and the spread between cities shows why people try. From Boston (BOS), the cheapest route went to Dublin (DUB) at 45,000 Atmos points; from San Francisco (SFO), the cheapest went to Dublin (DUB) at 70,000 Atmos points. When those prices are in different programs, the gap is in different currencies and needs converting into what each balance cost you before it means anything.

A positioning flight bought separately is a second ticket. If it runs late and you miss the award flight, the award program owes you nothing, so leave a long gap or travel the day before. Add the cash fare and any hotel night to the comparison, not only the miles.

Which program was cheapest on these routes?

Winning on price is not the same as being open. The program with the lowest typical price on a route is often not the one with seats on your date; the guide to the best airline miles program puts a number on that gap across every region.

Where does this ranking not apply?

  • One way, one adult. Two travellers need two seats on the same flight, and a date with one open seat may not have a second.
  • Only departures from October 5, 2026 to December 3, 2026. Prices further out can differ, and programs release seats on their own schedules.
  • Only the airport pairs MilesZone indexes are in the sample, so an unlisted route may still have seats.
  • Miles only. Cash on top differs a lot between programs and is not part of the rank.
  • The return direction has its own ranking: cheapest business class flights from Europe to the US.

Questions.

Are award prices one way or round trip?
Every figure here is one way. The programs in the study sell one-way award seats, so a round trip is two separate prices, and the outbound and the return can come from two different programs.
Does a cheap typical price mean the seat is easy to find?
No. The typical price is the median over the dates on which the program had a seat, so it says nothing about how many dates that was. Of the 12 cheapest US routes in the October 2026 study, 4 had their cheapest program open on at least half the dates.
Why is my city missing from the ranking?
The sample holds the airport pairs MilesZone indexes that had at least one business seat in the window. A route outside it can still have seats; a search shows what each program has today.
