Why the gap is the whole alliance at once.
Award space does not arrive airline by airline. It arrives program by program: we read a mileage program, and what that program can book is what we can show you. Both of ours are oneworld booking desks, so these 26 airlines are missing for one reason rather than 26 reasons. Closing it means reading a Star Alliance program — Aeroplan, MileagePlus, LifeMiles or Miles & More — not adding 26 airlines one at a time.
Six of these airlines spend the same miles.
Miles & More is not Lufthansa's alone. Austrian, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, LOT and Croatia Airlines run on it too, so six members share one balance and one set of rules. It is the single most useful thing to know about redeeming inside this alliance, and it is why guidance written about Lufthansa miles usually applies to five other airlines without saying so.
The membership keeps moving.
SAS left for SkyTeam in September 2024. Asiana is being absorbed by Korean Air, which will eventually take it out of Star Alliance and into SkyTeam as well. Air India absorbed Vistara in 2024 and folded it into Maharaja Club. Award guidance about this alliance that is more than a year old is describing a different list from the one below.
What it means for your trip.
If the flights you want only exist on the airlines below, MilesZone is the wrong tool today, and we would rather say that on one page than bury it across 26. We publish no miles, no taxes and no seat counts for any of them, because we hold none. What we do hold is 12 airlines through two oneworld programs, priced to the cent and free to search.

Can MilesZone search Star Alliance award space?
No. No program we read can book a Star Alliance seat, so we show no availability, no miles and no fees for any of the 26 airlines on this page. It exists to tell you that in one place rather than let you find it out one search at a time.
Which programs book Star Alliance award seats?
Every member runs its own, and most of them sell partner awards across the alliance. The ones people reach for most often are Air Canada Aeroplan, United MileagePlus, Avianca LifeMiles and Miles & More. None of them are in our search today.
Why can you price oneworld but not Star Alliance?
Because coverage follows programs, not alliances. American AAdvantage and Atmos Rewards are both oneworld desks, and between them they book the 12 airlines we price to the cent. Neither can see a Star Alliance seat, so no amount of oneworld coverage ever reaches the airlines here.
Will you add Star Alliance?
It is on the list, and the order is set by which programs we can read reliably rather than by which airlines are most asked for. A Star Alliance feed is one program's worth of work rather than one airline's, which is the argument for doing it. Until one of them returns real prices for real seats, this page will keep saying no.
