# Award flight search: how to check every program at once

> An award flight search that reads every program selling a route finds seats a single airline site never shows. In the October 2026 study, 427 of 715 business-class routes had seats in two or more programs; on those routes the cheapest program had a seat on 56% of dates, and at least one program had a seat on 88%.

dates with a business seat in any program, on routes two or more programs sell (October 2026 study): 88%.

Updated October 5, 2026. Data from [Business-class award prices by loyalty program, October 2026](https://miles.zone/research/business-class-award-prices-2026-10).

## Why does one airline's award search miss seats?

Because the airline flying the plane and the program selling the seat are often different companies, and each program prices the same cabin its own way. On London (LHR) to New York (JFK), 5 programs had a business seat in [the October 2026 study](https://miles.zone/research/business-class-award-prices-2026-10): Atmos Rewards at a typical 45,000 Atmos points, LifeMiles at 62,100 miles, British Airways Club at 88,000 Avios, Air France-KLM Flying Blue at 105,500 miles and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club at 345,000 Virgin Points. A search on any one of those sites shows one line of that list.

Across the 427 routes with seats in two or more programs, no single program was cheapest everywhere. The program with the lowest typical price, route by route:

- [Atmos Rewards](https://miles.zone/programs/atmos-rewards): cheapest on 190 routes of 427.
- [LifeMiles](https://miles.zone/programs/lifemiles): cheapest on 114 routes of 427.
- [Air France-KLM Flying Blue](https://miles.zone/programs/flying-blue): cheapest on 94 routes of 427.
- [British Airways Club](https://miles.zone/programs/british-airways-club): cheapest on 12 routes of 427.
- [Thai Royal Orchid Plus](https://miles.zone/programs/royal-orchid-plus): cheapest on 5 routes of 427.
- [Virgin Atlantic Flying Club](https://miles.zone/programs/virgin-atlantic-flying-club): cheapest on 2 routes of 427.

211 of those routes cross the Atlantic. Which program wins there, and on which dates, is in [business class to Europe with miles](https://miles.zone/guides/business-class-to-europe-with-miles).

## What does a points flight search show on one screen?

Each result on a MilesZone search is one seat on one date, with six things you need before deciding anything:

- The program that sells it, which is the one you need points in.
- The airline that flies it. Two programs can sell the same flight at different prices, and the search keeps both.
- The miles or points, in that program's own currency (Avios, Virgin Points, Flying Blue miles).
- The cash on top, marked "at least" where the program's figure may leave something out.
- Whether the flight is nonstop or connects.
- When the seat was last checked with the program.

Prices in different currencies sit side by side but are not converted. A LifeMile and an Avios are not worth the same, and the search does not pretend they are.

## Does the cheapest program usually have a seat?

No, and that is the main reason to search them together. LifeMiles had the lowest median price but a seat on only 17% of the dates read on its routes; Air France-KLM Flying Blue had one on 85%. The cheapest program was also the least available one. One search shows the cheap seat on the few dates it exists and the next best option on every other date. The full trade-off, program by program, is in [the best airline miles program for business class](https://miles.zone/guides/cheap-programs-vs-available-programs).

## How do you search flights with points across programs?

1. Open [MilesZone search](https://miles.zone/search) and enter the route with a range of dates, not one day. Departures in the next 60 days are free with an account.
2. Sort by miles, then read the cash column before you get attached to a result: the seat with the fewest miles can carry far more cash than the next one.
3. Move the dates a few days either way. The cheapest program often has a seat on a neighbouring date when it has none on yours.
4. Keep only results in programs you hold, or can move bank or card points into.
5. Before moving points, [check award availability before transferring points](https://miles.zone/guides/check-award-seat-before-transferring-points), then book on the program's own site.

The airlines each program books are on [coverage](https://miles.zone/coverage). How other award search tools compare on programs, free search and alerts is in [award search tools compared](https://miles.zone/guides/award-search-tools-compared).

## Where does searching every program at once fall short?

- Programs not priced yet are missing from the results: American AAdvantage, Cathay Asia Miles. A seat sold only through them will not appear.
- The lowest number is only the best deal in a currency you can reach. A cheap seat in a program you have no way to pay into is not an option.
- Results are for one adult. Two travellers need two seats on the same flight, and a date showing one may not have two.
- A result is the seat as last read. Busy routes are read within a day or so, quiet ones less often, so the seat can have gone since.

## Questions

### Can I book across several programs in one search?

No. MilesZone searches the programs together but does not book. A result tells you which program has the seat and what it costs; you book on that program's site, under its rules.

### Do I need points in every program to use the search?

No. You need enough in the one program that sells the seat you pick, either already there or moved in from a bank or card scheme that transfers to it. The search itself needs only a free account.

### Does MilesZone need my airline or program login?

No. MilesZone reads the award seats each program offers with its own access, and never asks for your program login, your password or your balance. You sign in to the program yourself only to book.
